I finished reading about ten nonfiction books this year and while I aim for about one a month, I am happy with what I did complete. There were definitely some standouts – and generally speaking I can love parts of a nonfiction book but not other parts – and this was mostly true of each of these below. I also really gauge how much I learned through a book of this genre – where it is a memoir, biography, self help or something else. There were a few books that I haven’t listed here that I learned quite a bit but ultimately they fell short somehow.
Here are the top seven nonfiction books that I enjoyed this year.
- 107 Days – Kamala Harris
- Outlive – Peter Attia
- Cancer is Complicated – Clea Shearer
- Madness – Antonia Hylton
- I’m Sorry I Cremated You – Jaclyn Michelle Smith
- Everything is Tuberculosis – John Green
- Awake – Jen Hatmaker
